Samuel Johnson was an English writer, poet, playwright, essayist and critic. These volumes also include a journal of his tour to the Hebrides, Wales and correspondence with Mrs Thrale, revised and enlarged by John Wright and with numerous additions and notes by The Right Hon. J. Wilson Croker.
Each volume has a frontispiece and an engraved title page.

Condition
All are in uniform half morocco binding with marbled boards. Externally, smart with some rubbing to the spines, especially to the tails of the spines. Some marks to the boards also and rubbing to the joints. Some marks to the front boards of viii and ix. Previous owner inscription to the page after the front free endpaper to volume one. Internally, firmly bound with bright and generally clean pages.
