First edition. 

Bound in half navy calf, with marbled paper covered boards and charming decorative gilt to the spine. 

This volume depicts the notable events and figures of the first eighteen centuries of Christian presence across the world. With chapters drawing history on the birth of Christ and the central power of Rome, progress of Islam, Norse settlements, the Reformation and Napoleon. 

Written by the Rev. James White, who also wrote 'Landmarks of the History of England'.

Condition

In a half calf binding, with marbled boards and endpapers. Externally, smart, with mild rubbing to the extremities. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean, with offsetting to the endpapers and scattered spots to first and last couple leaves.
