What Our Customers Say...

Description

Folding Plates, Illustrated, Leather Binding, Original Binding, Publishers' Original Binding

Later edition. With a folding colour plate to the front of the text and fifteen plates. Collated complete. Perhaps the best known of the author's geological works, this study provides a description of the geology of Cromarty, Ross-shire, with diversions into its scenery, history and folklore. The Old Red Sandstone is still a term used to collectively describe sedimentary rocks deposited as a result of the Caledonian orogeny. To which is added a series of geological papers read before the Royal Physical Society of Edinburgh. Written by Hugh Miller, a Scottish geologist, writer and folklorist.
