Illustrated with a folding map frontispiece.

Minturn was an American shipping magnate of the firm, Grinnell, Minturn & Co, which is best known as being the owners of the clipper ship 'Flying Cloud'. This work details his voyages and travels in connection with his work.

With the former owner's inscription C. B. Failey to a front blank.

With a four page publisher's catalogue to the rear.

Condition

In the publisher's original cloth binding. Bumping to back strip head and tail, with small losses to cloth in these regions. Joints starting, with boards a touch tender. Inscription to a front blank. Internally, pages 193 to 214 detached and loosely inserted, with text block separated between pages 192 and 215. Pages generally clean and bright. Significant closed tear to folding map.
