An early edition of The Fatal Boots and Cox's Diary, originally published in 1855 as part of the 'Miscellanies', vol. III. Two novellas by William Makepeace Thackeray, British author and illustrator known for his satirical works, in particular Vanity Fair and The Luck of Barry Lyndon.
Bound in with this volume is also the first book edition and appearance in book form of Thackeray's famous character of Barry Lyndon, in The Memoirs of Barry Lyndon scarce first impression of 1856 bound without the six leaves of adverts, no half title; and 1857 edition of A Shabby Genteel Story, the first book form edition as part of his 'Miscellanies'. Both were previously serialised in Fraser's Magazine, 'The Memoirs of Barry Lyndon' under title The Luck of Barry Lyndon, which was adapted into the famous film by Stanley Kubrick in 1975.

Condition
Rebound in full calf binding with four raised bands, gilt tooling to spine. Externally sound with some shelf wear, dented mark to front board, rear board lightly marked, bumped to extremities of the boards. Internally, firmly bound. Few light spots scattered to the occasional leaf, otherwise pages are generally very clean and bright.
