Written by American author Susan B. Warner, who was best known for her works of religious fiction and children's fiction.

This novel is set in and around Warner's home state of New York, with the 'Shatemuc' river being one of the original names of the Hudson River.

Condition

In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, sound with slight rubbing and bumping, particularly to the extremities. Small tears to the cloth at the joints at the head and tail of the spine. Spine is a touch faded. Boards are slightly soiled. Hinges are strained, with the front hinge tender, cords visible. Lacking front free endpaper. Internally, generally firmly bound. Pages mostly bright and clean, with one or two spots.
