A selection of recollections by Samuel Rogers, reminiscing on various conversations he had his many of his distinguished friends throughout his long life, such as Edward Burke and Charles Fox.
This volume also includes 'Porsoniana'.
With the bookplate of George Booth to the front pastedown.
Rogers was a Romantic poet who, despite being very celebrated during his lifetime, has been eclipsed by his colleagues such as Byron and Coleridge since his death. He was great friends with many popular romantic poets, and kept enlightening and amusing recollections of the artistic and literary life of London in that era.
Condition
In a full morocco signed binding, with paper covered boards. Light fading to back strip as is common with deep shades of morocco. Front hinge strained, but firmly held. Bookplate to front pastedown. Internally, firmly bound. Pages clean and bright.
