In this work, renowned army physician and writer Humphry Sandwith recounts and comments on his experience of the Siege of Kars, the final major event in the Crimean War. Resident of Turkey until the fall of Kars, Sandwith relates his travels through neighbouring Armenia and Lazistan to the rapidly changing political landscape of Turkey.

In publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, generally smart with slight bumping and rubbing. Rebacked with spine laid down. Bookplate from previous owner to front paste down. Hinges reinforced. Internally, generally tightly bound. Spotting heavier to first and last few pages, otherwise fairly clean.
