Very scarce.
To which is added a comprehensive history from the earliest period to the present day.
With a frontispiece, engraved title vignette, two portraits, a folding map of London, dual-spread engraved plate and one hundred further engraved plates. After drawings by British artist Thomas H. Shepherd, noted for his topographical and architectural works.
Collated, complete.
Undated, dated from copies held institutionally.
Condition
Bound in half calf, with marbled paper covered boards and gilt raised bands. Externally, smart, with really only rubbing to the extremities and slight fading to the spine's leather. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright, with scattered spotting of varying degrees throughout. With spotting to plates largely unaffecting the engravings themselves, but rather the surrounding margins.
