A series of twelve lectures delivered in Magdeburg in 1847. A collection of writings advocating measures for the relief, present and future, of the Jews of Jerusalem. With commentary on antiquity and Mosaism, social morality, the teachings of the prophets, the Second Temple, and the contents of the Talmud. Written by Ludwig Philippson, a German rabbi and author. Translated by Anna Maria Goldsmid, an English benefactor and translator, who was the eldest child of Isaac Lyon Goldsmid and the sister of Sir Francis Henry Goldsmid.
Condition
In the original brown cloth binding. Externally, very smart with minor wear and light fading to the extremities. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with the odd spot. Long contemporary ink inscription and embossed bookseller's stamp to the front endpaper.
