D'Aubigné, a Swiss Protestant historian, describes the Reformation as a divinely guided movement that restored true Christianity by disrupting the corruption of the Catholic Church.
The work is noted for its strong Protestant bias, and was influential amongst evangelical protestant readers in the nineteenth century.

In full calf bindings, with extensive gilt detailing to back strips. Externally, fine. Bookplates to front pastedowns. Internally, firmly bound. Pages exceptionally clean and bright, with only one or two spots to plate perimeters.
