Rebacked with the original cloth laid down.

Translated from the French of Jean-Baptiste Alphonse Karr, a French critic, journalist and novelist. 

This work is structured into letters, each of which vividly describes the goings-on of a garden, including the wildlife, seasonal changes and circle of life, often spoken about in a philosophical matter.

Illustrated with a frontispiece, engraved title page and many vignettes throughout by William Harvey, a British wood-engraver whose works can also be found in E. W. Lane's The Arabian Nights' Entertainments.
