A volume of sketches on matters concerning the music and musicians of the time, as well as thoughts on nature of crowds, the first opera, mechanical music, and suggestions for a musical amphitheatre. 

Written by Henry Charles Lunn, a composer, pianist and editor of 'The Musical times' from 1963-1887.

Condition

In the original cloth binding. Externally, smart, with slight rubbing and bumping to the extremities. A minor damp stain to the front board. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright, with a few scattered spots, heaviest to the first and last few leaves. Offsetting and a small contemporary ink inscription to the title page.
