Second edition, enlarged. Scarce edition. A collection of philosophical essays on topics such as: the philosophy of the unconditioned, logic and the recent English treatises on that science, the revolutions of medicine, the study of mathematics as an exercise of the mind, patronage and superintendence of universities, and more. Written by Sir William Hamilton, a Scottish metaphysician. Previously held in the library of Sir Edward Henry Busk, a British scholar who was appointed Vice Chancellor of London University from 1905-1907.

Condition

Bound in full brown calf with gilt. Externally, sound with rubbing and minor loss to the extremities. Fading to the spine with marks to the boards. Cracks to the joints, predominantly to the head of the spine. Hinges starting but reasonably firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean throughout. Previous owner's bookplate to the front pastedown.
