Description
Illustrated, Original Binding, Publishers' Original Binding
The Chace, The Turf, and, The Road were three papers first published in the Quarterly Review in 1835. This copy is a new edition of the three papers: 'The Chace' (1853), 'The Turf' (1869), and, 'The Road' (1853).
With several unauthored monochrome illustrations appearing throughout the text, including of chases, horse racing, and coach riding.
Includes eight pages of publisher's advertisements at the rear of the work.
Very scarcely encountered bound thus.
This single volume contains three papers on fox-hunting, horse-racing, and horse-drawn carriages, respectively, by the Welsh sportsman and writer Charles James Apperley, published under the pseudonym 'Nimrod'.
Condition
Full bound in the original publisher's green cloth. Externally, sound with rubbing and a few minor handling marks. Slight bumping to the head and tail of the spine and the extremities, causing fractional loss to the cloth. Internally, binding is a touch strained towards the front of the work. Pages are lightly age toned with mild spotting scattered throughout.
