With chapters on vegetable life, the nature of a seed, the action of leaves and flowers, and much more. Written by John Lindley, an English botanist, gardener and orchidologist. With notes by Andrew Jackson Downing, an American landscape designer, horticulturist, writer, and editor of The Horticulturist magazine. He is also considered to be a founder of American landscape architecture.
Condition
In the original full cloth binding. Externally, smart with light rubbing and bumping to the extremities. Light fading to the spine with the odd small mark to the cloth. Minor splits in the cloth at the head and tail of the spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with age toning to the extremities and scattered spotting throughout. Previous owner’s bookplate to the front pastedown.
