This is an informative historical wok on the Battle of Leipzig, also known as the Battle of the Nations, written by Rev George R. Gleig.

This is a detailed historical account of one of the pivotal battles of the Napoleonic Wars, the Battle of Leipzig (1813), also known as the Battle of the Nations, which resulted in the Coalition armies decisively defeating the Grande Armee of Napoleon Bonaparte. This battle began the decisive defeats of the French emperor and led him to abdicate the following year.

Contents include 'Russian Campaign', 'Preparations', 'Prussia Awakened', 'The Pursuit', ' The Armisitice', 'Negotiations', 'Warlike attitudes', and 'Comparative State of Parties'.

Written by George Gleig (1796-1888), a Scottish soldier, military writer, and priest. Gleig wrote a series of articles for Blackwood's Magazine on his Peninsular War experiences, as well as a novel titled 'The Subaltern'.

Condition

Bound in a half morocco binding, with paper boards. Externally, smart. Rubbing and bumping to extremities, particularly the joints of the spine and corners, resulting in slight loss to morocco. Slight rubbing to boards. Previous owner's bookplate to front paste down. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean, if a little age toned, with one or two spots, heavier to first and last few leaves. Corner of first page clipped.
