1852 The Dorp and the Veld; or, Six Months in Natal
What Our Customers Say...
Description
First Edition, Publishers' Original Binding, Very Scarce
The first edition of this very scarce work.
A travel work accounting the author's six months spent in Natal, South Africa.
The author, Charles Barter, did not have a favourable view on South Africa, however he presents a faithful account of the state of affairs in the provinces and the Orange River Sovereignty. At this time there was an influx of British emigration to Natal, thus the author looks at the benefits of moving there, though he advises against it.
By Charles Barter.
