The very scarce first edition. 

Illustrated by Anne Prat with a monochrome frontispiece and seventy-two coloured plates. Collated complete. 

This study on birds was written by the botanical and ornithological author and illustrator, Anne Pratt. The work provides details on a number of bird species, including thrushes, warblers and swallows, with sections on how birds adapt, their songs and how birds live during the various seasons.

Condition

In the publisher's original cloth. Externally sound with fading to the spine and extremities, bumping to the extremities, loss to the head of the spine and a slight lean. Binder's label to the front pastedown with the rear hinge starting and front tender after the frontispiece. Internally, firmly bound with lightly age toned pages with spotting to the front and rear and the odd spot throughout.
