Early Edition, Publishers' Original Binding

The second edition of this work, which was first published in 1850, three months after the poet's death. 

Wordsworth began The Prelude in 1798, at the age of 28, and continued to work on it throughout his life. It is an autobiographical poem in blank verse, and reveals many details of Wordsworth's life.

With a half title to the start of the work, and with the half title and the general title to volume VIII of Wordsworth's Poetical Works to the rear.

With the bookplates of Andrew Jackson Inn, and of J. O. Edwards, to the front pastedown.

Condition

In the publisher's original cloth binding. Light shelf wear to back strip tail, with bump to back strip head. Joint heads starting, with boards firmly held. Bookplate to front pastedown. Internally, firmly bound. Pages exceptionally clean and bright.
