Illustrated with a vignette title page, and many in-text engravings throughout.
'The Dog' is an incredibly informative guide to the care of many different breeds of dogs.
In particular, this work focuses on the various ailments of dogs, such as diseases of the eyes, rabies, and stomach issues. The first part of the work explores the history and zoological classification of dogs, as well as devoting three chapters to exploring different breeds of dogs.
Including an appendix on 'New Laws of Coursing'.
Written by William Youatt, a veterinary surgeon and author of animal welfare works.
Condition
In a half calf binding with marbled paper to the boards. Externally, a little rubbed. A few minor marks to the boards. Light bumping to the extremities. Front hinge is starting but firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean, with scattered spots to the first and last few pages. The occasional ink annotation to the text.
