Illustrated with a monochrome plate as the frontispiece of Volume I complete with a tissue guard. 

George Borrow's English Literature classic, which shares the protagonists' experiences shared with Romany travellers, resonating strongly with the author's own life to the extent that this work has often been considered a memoir. 

Prior owner's book plates to the front pastedowns. This work was from the library of George Charles Bright, a doctor and physician who studied the condition of air in hospital wards.
