Comprising the first two volumes of this four-volume architectural study from T. Hudson Turner and John Henry Parker. 

Uniformly bound in full calf, with decorative gilt to the spines. 

Profusely illustrated throughout with engravings, plans and vignettes, including one hundred and four plates to Vol I and ninety-six plates to Vol II. Collated, complete. 

Volume I spans from the Conquest to the end of the thirteenth century and Volume II explores from the periods of Edward I to Richard II. With remarks on the major developments seen throughout England's architectural history, including the typical layout of a Roman house, fortified manor-houses, paintings on the walls at Westminster and foundations of medieval towns, as well as surveys of existing remains. 

Also with a chapter in Vol I comprising extracts from the Liberate Rolls of Henry III relating to Bristol, Canterbury, Newcastle, Windsor, Hereford, Oxford and other places. 

The first volume of this series was written by English archaeologist and architectural historian, Thomas Hudson Turner, and completed by John Henry Parker after Turner's death.
