What Our Customers Say...
Description
First Edition, Original Binding, Very Scarce
A vanishingly scarce work.
Urquhart, an Irish landowner and Member of Parliament, approaches economic questions with a concern for justice, moral responsibility, and the common good. He discusses property rights, labour relations, wealth distribution, and the responsibilities of the state in regards to the conditions of the poor.
His essays critique the excesses of laissez-faire liberalism and argue for a more humane and socially conscious economic framework.
With the stamp of the Statistical Society of London to the title page head, and their label to the front board.
Urquhart published other works such as 'Dialogues on Taxation, local and imperial' and 'The Substitution of Direct for Indirect Taxation necessary to carry out the Policy of Free Trade'.
