The first edition.

The scarce plate volume only, without the two accompanying text volumes.

A study of the Britannia and Conway Bridges, by the civil engineer Edwin Clark, under the guidance of the Robert Stephenson. Together they worked on the design and building of two bridges in Wales.

This work showcases the engineering designs behind both of the bridges through detailed lithograph plates.

Illustrated with four folding plates, and thirty-four plates.

Collated, without eight plates, being Plates II, III, IV, VI, XXXV, XXXVI, XXXVII, and XLIV.

Condition

In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, boards are detached from one another, lacking the backtrip, Bumping and loss to the extremities. Light marks to the boards, including a dampstain to the rear board. A small amount of loss of cloth to the tail of the rear board. Internally, unbound. Plates are generally bright with spots and a few tide marks. Plates are edge worn with small tears. Lacking Plates II, III, IV, VI, XXXV, XXXVI, XXXVII, and XLIV.
