Edited by William Anderson (1805-1866), a Scottish historian and biographer best known for The Scottish Nation and his editorial work on popular collected editions of major authors.
Condition
In a full morocco binding. Externally, very smart. Slight rubbing and bumping to extremities resulting in slight loss to morocco. The odd minor handling mark and scratch to boards. Hinges cracked with binding materials slightly exposed, but holding firm. Internally, generally firmly bound. Hinges slightly strained in places but holding. Pages bright and clean with one or two spots heavier to first and last few leaves. Tide marking and damp staining to lower fore edge of plates. Slight offsetting from plates to facing pages.
