Leather Binding, Signed Binding, Very Scarce
Two volumes are bound together, with individual pagination, and with each volume retaining its original title page and half title.
The first work is the 1849 first edition of the allegory 'The Dark River', illustrated with a frontispiece. First published in 1845, this work is very scarce in early editions.
The second work is an 1850 edition of the allegory 'The Vast Army', first published in 1847 and also very scarce in early editions.
Two short allegorical works of fiction with a religious message by Anglican Rev. Edward A. Monro. Monro was curate of Harrow-on-Weald, and in1852 He was Select Preacher to the University of Oxford.
In a signed binding by Fletcher of Norwich.
Condition
In a half calf binding signed binding, with marbled paper covered boards. Light rubbing to back strip head and tail, front joint, and fore edge of front board, otherwise externally excellent. Loss of paper to head of front blank. Internally, firmly bound. Pages exceptionally clean and bright.
