Written by Mrs Drummond, author of 'Lucy Seymour' and 'Louisa Moreton'.
This work of fiction follows the lives of the Wilmot family, with disasters, parties and 'unwelcome news'.
With a hand coloured illustration to the title page and a black-and-white frontispiece.
With an ink inscription of Zoe M. Miller, from Aunt Marshall, dated 26th December 1860, to the front endpaper.
With a bookplate reading 'Animo et Fide', or 'Courage and Faith' to the front paste down.
Condition
In paper-covered boards with handwritten title to front cover and to spine. Externally, generally smart, with light bumping to the extremities and to the spine. Fading to the spine. Tape holding paper cover in place to the paste downs. Bookplate to the front paste down. Tape reinforcing front hinge. Hinges slightly strained, with cords visible. Ink inscription to front endpaper. Internally, generally firmly bound. Pages generally bright and clean with light age toning. The odd spot to the first few pages.
