    The first edition of this very scarce work.

    An interesting treatise on railways, presenting many facts and figures regarding different aspects of the railways.

    A useful reference work on Victorian transportation, looking at the development of railways, the lead trade at Newcastle, bookselling in Ireland, milk by railway, how to make axle grease for railway carriages, and more.

    By Samuel Salt, who also wrote 'Statistics and Calculations'.

    Condition

    In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, generally smart. A small amount of loss to the head and tail of the spine. Light marks and rubbing to the cloth. Spine and extremities are faded. Light bumping to the extremities. Hinges are starting but firm. Internally, generally firmly bound. Pages are lightly age-toned and generally clean. Closed tear to page 71/72.
