    First Edition, Illustrated, Leather Binding, Scarce

    Volumes I, II, and III of this very scarce work, which eventually extended to five volumes. Each volume is a first edition.

    Only five volumes were published, covering Lancashire and Cheshire, although the author had intended to publish more.

    Volume I, Lancashire, Northern Division, The Hundreds of Blackburn and Leyland. Illustrated with a frontispiece and fifty-two further plates. Collated, complete. 

    Volume II, Lancashire, Northern Division, The Hundreds of Lonsdale and Amounderness. Illustrated with fifty-two plates. Collated, complete. 

    Volume III, Lancashire, Southern Division, The Hundreds of West Derby and Salford. Illustrated with sixty-four plates. Collated, lacking three plates.

    A wonderful study of the impressive homes of Lancashire.

    Condition

    In half calf bindings, with marbled paper covered boards. Significant rubbing and fading to back strips and board perimeters. Tail of front joint of volume I starting, with board firmly held. Rear hinge of volume III and tail of front hinge of volume II strained but firmly held. Internally, firmly bound. Pages clean and bright. Lacking three plates to volume III.
