Description

Illustrated, Leather Binding, Signed Binding

First published in 1844, the work recounts the author's experiences travelling in Greece, Turkey, Syria, Palestine, and Egypt, written at a time where interest in the East was rising in England. 

Illustrated with a tinted lithographic frontispiece to each volume, and a total of thirteen further vignette illustrations. Collated, complete.

In signed half morocco bindings from J. Carss & Co. of Glasgow.

The travels documented in this work were undertaken in 1843, initially published as a series of articles in the Dublin University Magazine. The editor of the magazine, Charles Lever, persuaded Warburton to gather them into a book.

Condition

In half morocco signed bindings, with cloth covered boards. A touch of fading to back strips, with rubbing to joints and board perimeters. Hinges starting, with boards holding firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright, with light spotting throughout.
