Complete in two volumes.

An interesting travel work, looking at the author's experiences travelling in Greece, Turkey, Syria, Palestine, and Egypt, written at a time where interest in the East was rising in England.

This work was initially published as a series of articles in the Dublin University Magazine. The editor of the magazine, Charles Lever, persuaded Warburton to gather them into a book.

By Irish traveller Eliot Warburton, this work documents his travels undertaken in 1843.

Volume I is illustrated with a frontispiece, and seven in-text engravings.

Volume II is illustrated with a frontispiece, and six in-text engravings.

Collated, complete.

Condition

In a half calf binding with cloth to the boards, bound by Eyre & Spottiswoode. Externally, generally smart, front board of Volume II is held by two cords only. Rubbing to the leather, resulting in a small amount of loss to the extremities, a little heavier to Volume I. Small tear to the tail of the front joint of Volume I. Light marks to the cloth. Hinges of Volume I is starting but firm. Spotting to the endpapers. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean, with a few scattered spots.
