'The Battle of Life' is the fourth of Dickens' spirited 'Christmas Books', set in an English village that stands on the site of a historic battle.
A romantic novel, this is the only Christmas book that doesn't have any supernatural or explicitly religious elements.
Two pages of publisher's adverts to the rear, retaining the original half title.
With a former owner's inscription to the recto of the frontispiece.
Condition
In the publisher's original cloth binding. Bumping to back strip head and tail. Head of front joint starting, with board holding firm. Rear joint starting, with board firmly held. Inscription to recto of title page. Internally, firmly bound. Pages age toned to perimeters, with light handling marks throughout.
