What Our Customers Say...

Description

Publishers' Original Binding

An early, pocket-sized edition of Lord Byron's 'Don Juan', with all sixteen cantos.

Bound in the publisher's original green cloth.

Illustrated with a frontispiece and an additional engraved title page. Collated, complete.

'Don Juan' is Lord Byron's satirical epic poem, an important feat of Romantic poetry. Byron portrays Don Juan as a man easily seduced by women, rather than a womaniser. The character, but not the plot, is taken from the legendary Spanish libertine figure.

Byron's poem is written in ottava rima across sixteen cantos. Upon the publication of the first cantos in 1819 the poem was criticized as immoral.

With eight pages of publisher's advertisements to the rear.

Condition

Bound in the publisher's original green cloth. Externally, very good, with light bumping to the extremities and a few small tears to the spine head and tail. A little fading to the spine and the odd mark to boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are a touch age toned, but clean, with just the occasional mark.
