The vanishingly scarce first edition of this work.

Miss F. Child's presents the tale of a solitary spinster who becomes haunted by the imagined presence of a child, and accompanies it with a collection of local tales and ballads tied to the ancient Close of Salisbury.

Illustrated with a frontispiece and two further plates. Collated, complete.

In a paper vellum binding from Broadbere of Southampton.

Condition

In a signed paper vellum binding, with morocco spine label. Light rubbing to back strip tail, with significant handling marks to boards and back strip. Hinges reinforced. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright, with the odd spot to perimeters.
