Scarce work. With a facsimile image of the original manuscript. A collection of extracts, written in prose and verse, from an Old English medical manuscript which was preserved at the Royal Library in Stockholm. With sections on the womb and birth, wounds and healing, and medicines. Communicated by George Stephens, an English archeologist and philologist, who mostly worked in Scandinavia on interpreting runic inscriptions, and Sir Henry Ellis, an English librarian and antiquarian, who was principal librarian at the British Museum.
Condition
Bound in modern black cloth. Externally, very smart with minor wear and the odd small mark to the boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright very bright with the odd small spot and minor age toning to the extremities. The odd pencil annotation and the odd small closed tear to the page edges.
