This work was written by English solicitor and antiquary J. H. Markland. The work provides a description and opinion on certain churches and their monuments, accompanied with lovely illustrations. Markland has written other works on religion such as his first work titled 'A few Plain Reasons for Adhering to the Church'.
Condition
Bound in half calf with marbled paper to the boards. Externally very smart with slight rubbing to the joints, the odd minor mark to the boards and very light fading to the spine. Bookplate from 'Estcourt Library' to the front pastedown with front hinges starting. Internally firmly bound with clean and generally bright pages with only the odd spot to the rear.
