First Edition, Leather Binding, Very Scarce

The first editions of two very scarce works of poetry by C. J. Cruttwell.

Both volumes are very scarce, retaining their individual title pages and pagination, and published in 1842 by William Pickering.

These two works are titled 'Io triumphe! A song of victory on our glorious entry into Cabul; to which is added, the Massacre of Cabul', and 'The Tomb of Bonaparte (At the "Invalides") A Poem'.

Prize inscription to the front blank, from Grosvenor College Bath, dated 1851.

Vibrantly bound in morocco with gilt detailing.

Condition

In a vibrant full morocco binding, with gilt detailing to back strip and board perimeters. Boards bright. Light fading to back strip, with light rubbing to back strip head and tail, with bump to back strip head. Inscription to a front blank. Internally, firmly bound. Pages clean and bright.
