This is the first printed edition of a medieval Scottish chronicle preserved in manuscript form within the Advocates Library, now part of the National Library of Scotland.
Compiled from various early historical sources, the text presents a chronological record of Scottish history, including accounts of kings, battles, political events, and ecclesiastical matters.
The publication was issued by the Abbotsford Club, an early nineteenth-century Scottish text society founded to print previously unpublished manuscripts relating to Scotland’s history and literature. The main text is Latin, with an introduction in English by W.B.D.D. Turnbull.
