What Our Customers Say...
Description
Illustrated, Original Binding
A new French edition by Garnier Freres.
In the publisher's very scarce decorative cloth binding.
Offering a classic of English literature and arguably Jonathan Swift's best-known work, 'Gulliver's Travels', which has been adapted for over a dozen films, plays and theatrical performances since its publication in 1726. A parody of the then popular travel narrative, this novel tells of four adventures of surgeon and sea captain, Lemuel Gulliver.
This edition is illustrated with eight plates of engravings and is preceded by a literary and biographical introduction by Scottish 'Waverly' novelist, Sir Walter Scott. Collated, complete when compared to an identical copy held institutionally.
Condition
In the original decorative cloth binding. Externally, with slight fading to the spine cloth and minor rubbing and bumping to the extremities. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are mildly age toned, with scattered spots throughout. Contemporary ink inscription to the half title. Bookplate of one G. de Geus to the verso of the front free endpaper.
