What Our Customers Say...
Description
First Edition, Illustrated, Leather Binding, Scarce
A delightful mid 19th century pocket book from Suttaby & Co, who specialised in small, collectible, and often beautifully bound volumes such as this.
In a vibrant straight grain morocco binding, with secure flap fastening in full working order. With a pocket in the front pastedown for the storage of loose papers, and a further pocket housing a pencil.
Illustrated with a frontispiece, engraved title page, and twelve plates.
This reference work includes lists of acts of parliament, banks and bankers, important dates, and notable figures.
With two charming contemporary handwritten letters loosely inserted in the pocket, both from a woman - R. Johnson - to her sister. In one, she requests her sister attend a tea on the 8th of August, and in another she informs her sister that she has welcomed a 'little stranger'.
