Written by Mountstuart Elphinstone, a Scottish statesman and historian associated with India under British rule, where he served as Governor of Bombay.
Volume I is illustrated with a folding map. Collated, complete.
With the bookplate of the University of Keele Library and their stamp to front pastedowns and front free endpapers.
With twelve pages of advertisements to the rear.
Condition
In the publisher's original cloth binding. Back strips age toned, with bumping to back strip heads and tails. Small loss of cloth to tail of volume I back strip. Volume I front joint head starting, with board somewhat tender. Front hinge of volume II strained and somewhat tender. Bookplates and library stamps to front pastedowns and free endpapers. Internally, firmly bound. Pages clean and bright.
