A botanical magazine, containing articles on many different aspects of flower cultivation, alongside information on the proceedings of horticultural societies, newly identified species, and more.
This magazine was published monthly from March 1833 until 1859, an incredibly popular low-priced publication which sold almost 60,000 copies in its first nine month. After 1859, it became a weekly publication, being renamed 'Gardener's Weekly Magazine and Floricultural Cabinet'.
Edited by Joseph Harrison, an important horticulturist.
Condition
In a half calf binding with marbled paper to the boards. Externally, generally smart, with light rubbing to the boards and spine. Small tears to the tail of the joints. Minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities, with a small amount of loss of leather, heavier to the tail of the spine. Loss to the spine label. Spine is discoloured. Hinges are starting but firm. Spots to the endpapers. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are lightly age-toned and generally clean with scattered spots.
