1840 The Dramatic Works of Massinger and Ford
What Our Customers Say...
Description
Leather Binding
A wonderful collected edition of plays by Philip Massinger and John Ford, two important dramatists of the late Elizabethan and Jacobean stage.
Illustrated with an engraved title page and frontispiece.
Coleridge’s introduction provides biographical sketches and critical framing, situating the dramatists within the wider tradition of English Renaissance drama.
The first portion of the work is devoted to Massinger, and the final portion - separately paginated - to Ford.
While the letterpress title page gives the year 1840, the engraved title page gives the date 1839.
With the bookplate of the Dorset County Council to the front pastedown, and of their library to front free endpaper and blanks.
