This a s smart four-volume set of works, bound as two.
Volumes I and II, compromising the first volume, contain The Lives of the Lindsays; or, A Memoir of the House of Crawford and Balcarres, illustrated with a large fold-out genealogical table and two monochrome facsimile plates of family handwriting. Collated, complete.
The second volume consists of:
Volume III, containing: The Rise, Progress, and Termination of the Maroon War, compiled from the dispatches and private correspondence of Alexander, 6th Earl of Balcarres, Governor of Jamaica, including narratives of the Occupation and Defence of St. Lucie (1779) and the Siege of Gibraltar (1782) by the Hon. Colin Lindsay.
Volume IV: Oriental Miscellanies, comprising Robert Lindsay’s anecdotes of Indian life, James and John Lindsay’s account of the Battle of Conjeveram, John Lindsay’s journal of imprisonment in Seringapatam, and Hugh Lindsay’s adventure in China.
Condition
Bound in half morocco with marbled paper boards. Externally, very smart. Slight rubbing and bumping to extremities, resulting in very slight loss to morocco. Spines faded. Bookplates Ex Libris the Hon. Hew Hamilton, Dalrymple, to front paste down. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean with one or two spots to first and last few leaves. Scattered spotting to final leaves of volume II.
