Translated into English from the original French.

Combining personal reflection with descriptive prose, Lamartine records his impressions of Syria, Lebanon, Palestine, and Asia Minor, weaving together accounts of landscapes, antiquities, local customs, and encounters with diverse communities.

Rebound, with endpapers renewed.

Printed in two columns.

The work of French author, poet, and statesman Alphonse de Lamartine. Initially a moderate royalist, he became one of the leading critics of the July Monarchy of Louis-Philippe.

Condition

Rebound in half calf, with marbled paper covered boards, and with endpapers renewed. Externally, fine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages significantly age toned due to paper type, with only the odd spot.
