A volume of twenty-four short stories, recounting different aspects of life in Scotland. Tales include 'The Lily of Liddesdale', 'An Hour in the Manse', 'Blind Allan', 'The Covenanter's Marriage-Day', and more. Some of these stories had been previously published in 'Blackwood's'.
By John Wilson, who frequently wrote for 'Blackwood's' under the pseudonym "Christopher North". He was a literary critic, advocate, and a professor of moral philosophy at the University of Edinburgh.
Condition
In a full calf binding. Externally, generally smart. Lifting to the head of the spine. Light bumping and loss to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. Light marks and rubbing to the boards and spine. Tear to the tail of the front joint. Front hinge is starting but firm. Front free endpaper has been removed. Discolouration to the paste downs and endpapers. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are age-toned and generally clean with scattered spots. Tidemark to the margin of the final few pages.
