Featuring a folding map and 28 black-and-white plates as well as numerous in-text illustrations. Bound without publisher's advertisements, otherwise complete. 

With a 1943 bookplate from Col. Hon. Charles Lambton.

First published in the original French in 1830 then translated to English in 1836. This work follows the travels of renowned archaeologist Léon de Laborde through the ancient Roman region of Arabia Petraea and the ruins of Petra.

Condition

Bound in full brown calf by C. Lewis. Externally, generally smart. Bumping and rubbing particularly to the top of the spine and joints. Marking to front and rear boards. Bookplate from Col. Hon. Charles Lambton to the front paste down and from Francis E. B. Witts to the rear paste down. Internally, firmly bound. Pages generally bright and clean. Spotting mainly to first few pages and map.
