An uncommon early printing of this early Charles Dickens work. First published by Chapman & Hall earlier in the same year.

Illustrated with a frontispiece, vignette title page, and one further vignette after Phiz. Collated, complete.

A humorous and satirical response to Edward Caswall's "Sketches of Young Ladies" (1837), a work Dickens had described as an 'ungallant attack upon the fair sex'.

Undated; dated 1838 via the British Library.

In the publisher's original cloth binding, but with the front board detached.

Eight pages of publisher's advertisements to the rear.

Condition

In the publisher's original cloth binding, with paper label to front board. Front board detached. Loss to back strip head. Rear joint starting, with board holding firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages clean and bright, with instances of spotting to first and last few leaves.
