In a modern half cloth rebinding, with paper covered boards.

Illustrated with forty-four plates to the rear, each containing numerous engravings. With numerous in-text woodcuts throughout. Collated, complete. 

A comprehensive history and description of British zoophytes, including their ancient references, definitions, classifications, and evolutions.

Written by George Johnston, who was one of the founders of the Berwickshire Naturalists' Club and became its first president. His other works include The Flora of Berwick-upon-Tweed and History of British Sponges and Lithophytes. 

Condition

In a modern half cloth rebinding, with paper covered boards. Externally, with damp stains to the boards, otherwise minimal shelf wear and a couple minor marks to the rear board. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean, with a tide mark throughout the rear plates and offsetting to the first few pages. Gift ink inscription signed by various people to the front free endpaper.
